I've been following death note for the last couple of months, its brilliant, I'm hooked. Naturally theres a lot of fan art on DA, and a lot of the best seem to have Light put in a contrasting position to L, showing the conflict between the two of them. They're often portrayed as opposites, but that's not exactly the case. The both have (nearly) opposite eye and hair colours,an at a guess I'd say L is similar to what Light would have turned out like had the two swapped positions. The question is are they true opposites or are they two sides of the same coin. On the other hand they seem to be like Xavier and Magneto from the X-men (I'm sure there must be other examples, I just can't think of any at the moment), friends and allies but from a small yet crucial difference in morals.

I think the only major difference between the two characters is L, through everything that goes on, retains an innocence few of us real people have past the age of 8 or 12.
